Metis Aerospace Ltd would like to welcome its newest recruits – Lee Carter and Alex Cruickshanks.
After achieving a First Class BSc (Hons) Computing degree from Northumbria University in 1993, Lee joined the Ministry of Defence as a Civilian Scientist, devoting a number of years to the Electronic Warfare Avionics Detachment, developing software in support of a variety of aircraft including the Nimrod R1.
Since leaving the MOD in 1999, Lee has worked for a market leader in voice and data recording where he was a key member of the original team responsible for developing the company’s flagship voice recording platform. As well as being the designer of many fundamental components of the recording platform, Lee has impressed customers and third party equipment vendors with his excellent communication skills, helping to identify and refine requirements with the ambition of delivering solutions that exceed expectations.
Lee joins us in the role of Software Engineer and will be working with the team to develop the software for our signals intelligence system – HYPERION.
The majority of Alex’s 33 year career has been in and around the RAF – both as a serviceman and as a contractor servicing MoD contracts. He has significant experience in the processes, procedures, requirements, regulations, capabilities and expectations of both the civilian and service personnel and the capability for many of the ISTAR platforms. His main experience is in the SIGINT capability associated with the Nimrod R1 having worked on the platform and ground systems for around 20 years.
Alex joins us as RF Engineer, and is responsible for the design, development and integration of RF (radio frequency) elements of the Hyperion Sensor. This includes, providing technical expertise in RF technology, defining processes and procedures for RF engineering tasks, designing, developing and testing systems, from concept through to release to customer, and working with the software team to develop, build and test prototypes.
