The need for wideband performance across the spectrum is a core requirement for electronic warfare. The Electronic Warfare Enhancement Act in the US was introduced to refocus US EW efforts. It recognised that the ability to make effective use of the spectrum is essential, thereby enabling continued operations.
Operational trends in the Electronic Warfare (EW) sector are driven by increasing demands on the spectrum environment. These demands include the need to counter agile radar systems, utilisation of network-based IP-centric communications in warfare scenarios and combatting threats from improvised explosive devices triggered remotely.
In these cases, operators need to be aware of an increasing amount of frequencies. Future systems will need to employ flexible wideband materials that can enable cognitive analysis of the threat environment. Allowing effective control of the electromagnetic spectrum.
METIS employ a highly skilled, knowledgeable and experienced in-house team. A team that can readily draw upon an extensive network of over 40 associated Air ISTAR experts when required.
Within METIS, there is a wealth of knowledge and expertise in a range of specialist subjects, specifically Air; Electronic Warfare (EW), Communications Intelligence (COMINT) and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT).
What’s more, the team haven’t just been chosen for their technical qualifications – they have extensive, recent operational experience in a wide range of theatres. 50% have Aerosystems qualifications and are (MSc) qualified. Collectively they have amassed over 150,000 hours flight experience.
The majority have had leading roles in ground and flight instruction, including course design and validation; programme and project management including platform selection and procurement; release to service; test and evaluation. A large proportion have held leading posts throughout the AIR ISTAR cadre, including Officer Commanding & Mission Commander roles on the most current military platforms including: Rivet Joint, Boeing E-3D Sentry, Sentinel R Mk1, Shadow R MK1, Nimrod R Mk1, MR2 & MRA4, Joint Strike Fighter (F-35), Tornado GR4, Typhoon and a wide range of UAV/RPAS platforms.
This means METIS fully understands operational requirements and can offer the right off-the-shelf or bespoke designed solutions to meet any needs.
