Company Overview

METIS Aerospace is an electronic technology and sensor business servicing the defence and security markets.  Based in Lincoln, it has a varied client base spanning large primes and SME defence and security contractors and generally integrates its sensor technology within other complex detection systems.  Existing applications include anti-drone operator detection (currently in use at Gatwick airport) and similar used in UK military

Key Areas of Responsibility:

The BD Manager will be responsible for sales objectives to grow METIS business. Day to day you can expect to be the business owner of METIS technology portfolio with the mission to drive growth with clear strategy and build the competitive positioning of the product line within the market. This is a role with global scope and a great deal of potential. The position would be well suited to someone with sensor product knowledge and experience in defence and civil operations. This individual will have an international focus for the upstream market.

Main Tasks:

Segment strategy and technology roadmap

  • Analyses market segment, customers, and competitors to develop strategy for product, price, distribution channels, and promotion to strengthen market position and grow financial returns
  • Collaborates with technical sales manager(s) to refine strategy for respective market segment
  • In collaboration with sales managers, interacts with clients to deliver value message and understand market requirements first hand
  • Responsible for driving execution of strategy and its communication to METIS leadership

Product management and development

  • Creates product vision and strategy and communicates the strategy to all internal stakeholders
  • Monitors market performance and uses input to better revise/improve product or service
  • Develop the demand generation strategy and manage the marketing programs that drive demand for METIS products
  • Define core positioning and messaging for METIS solutions externally
  • Gather intelligence within the market landscape including competitive offerings, customer needs, and qualitative and quantitative data to support product positioning
  • Develop product demos, help create product adoption campaigns, and ensure successful product launches

Sales and marketing

  • Map the market and its opportunities to develop and deliver upon a Sales pipeline across METIS service offerings.
  • Sign new sales and support contracts with clients to secure a healthy recurring revenue stream for the company
  • Responsible for providing messaging to enable execution of marketing strategies (e.g., growth potential, market share)
  • Supports marketing communications (e.g., product and value proposition messaging, branding, advertising, white papers, trade shows, seminars, and events)
  • Support improvements outside of technology such as variant configurator, price lists, quality, etc
  • Responsible for pricing strategies (e.g., market strategy pricing, value pricing, transactional pricing) and collaborates with METIS to validate pricing strategies

Qualification and Requirements

Education
  • Advanced specialisms in strategy, marketing, product management, engineering
Professional Experience
  • Proven experience in the defence industry as sales business developer
  • Strong experience in leading the development, growth, and management of Operations improvement tools to the defence industry.
Technical/job-related skills
  • Solid track record of product marketing experience and demonstrated success in bringing to market commercially successful products
  • International business, value engineering and pricing analysis experience is a plus
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and negotiation skills with the ability to drive vision and influence cross-functional teams.
Competencies/Specific personal and job-related demands
  • Flexible, adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and able to work independently
  • Experience working with CRM platforms (such as Salesforce)
  • South/South West location
  • Ability to travel at short notice (both nationally and internationally)
